Dan Schneider Files a Defamation Lawsuit Against “Quiet on Set” Producers One Month After Documentary Premiere

Dan Schneider Sues After Quiet on Set

Just one month after the documentary series’ debut, Dan Schneider filed a defamation lawsuit against the makers of Quiet on Set, according to documents that In Touch was able to see.

Legal documents acquired by TMZ on Wednesday, May 1, reveal that the 58-year-old TV producer alleged in an unfiled limitless civil case that they wrongly indicated he sexually molested the young actors who worked on his Nickelodeon series. Schneider is suing Warner Bros. Discovery, Maxine Productions, Sony Pictures Television, and other creators in addition to the production crew.

Schneider’s attorneys referred to the documentary series as a “hit job” on their client and said that the production team employed deceptive editing methods to provide a misleading picture of Schneider. The lawsuit further alleges that the creative team attempted to draw comparisons between him and two sex offenders who were referenced in the document and who had previously worked for the network, including Brian Peck.

Schneider told In Touch that the documentary series Quiet on Set recently brought to light errors and poor decisions he made while working at Nickelodeon. The majority of these errors occurred decades ago when Schneider was a producer for Tollin/Robbins Productions. Without a question, I wasn’t always a good leader. I will continue to accept responsibility for that actions for which I genuinely apologize and regret.

He went on to say that he was involved in “horrific crimes for which actual child predators have been prosecuted and convicted,” adding that the docuseries “went beyond reporting the truth and falsely implied.”

Schneider summed up, saying, “I have nothing against anyone pointing out my shortcomings as a manager, but it is wrong to mislead millions of people into believing that I was ever involved in horrible acts like those carried out by child predators.”

In the case, Schneider claims he lost money and experienced mental anguish as a result of the docuseries, but he is not demanding specific damages.

During his tenure at the network, he is most known for creating the Nickelodeon series The Amanda Show, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, iCarly, and Victorious. He also assisted in launching the careers of several celebrities, including Amanda Bynes, Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice, and Jamie Lynn Spears.

Among the many shocking revelations made in the March premiere of the docuseries was Drake Bell’s allegation that Peck had sexually assaulted him while they were coworkers on the network. Peck finally entered a plea of not guilty to charges of oral copulation with a kid under 16 and committing an indecent act with a 14- or 15-year-old. In addition to receiving a 16-month prison sentence, he was had to register as a sexual offender.
